If your BMW E60, E61, E63 or E64 has the CCC iDrive system but no AUX option, the factory radio cannot receive sound from an external device or an Android screen. This guide shows how to enable AUX before fitting the screen.

Before you start
This procedure is for compatible BMW 5 Series E60/E61 and 6 Series E63/E64 vehicles with the CCC system. Before starting, check whether your BMW already has AUX. If AUX appears in iDrive, activation is not needed.
- Switch off the car before removing the original display.
- The activation box is for one vehicle and one activation only.
- Do not disconnect it during activation.
- If an Android screen is already installed, restore the original display and wiring first.

Important: once the activator has successfully enabled AUX on one car, it cannot be used on another vehicle. Check compatibility and the connector layout before starting.
How to activate AUX on a BMW CCC system
1. Identify the activator connections
The adapter sits between the original display and the car's display power connector. Match the screen connector and car power connector as shown.
2. Remove the original display
With the car switched off, remove the trim and fixing screws, then pull the factory display forward carefully. Disconnect the original display plug without pulling on the wires.
3. Fit the three-wire terminal correctly
Open the original plug housing and move the three-wire terminal into the matching position on the supplied adapter. Follow the pin position shown in the image. Incorrect placement can stop the AUX menu or audio from working.
4. Start the one-time activation
Connect the adapter and activator, start the car, and leave the factory screen on the Entertainment menu. Press and hold the activator button for more than three seconds, then release it when the indicator comes on. Wait for activation to finish; the original system may restart.
5. Check the AUX Audio menu
Return to the factory Entertainment menu and confirm that AUX Audio is listed. Keep the activator connected while you complete the final power cycle.
6. Complete the power-down cycle
Wait five seconds after activation. Switch off and lock the car, then leave it undisturbed for about 15 minutes so the CCC system can sleep. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for one minute, reconnect it, and check the factory Entertainment menu again.
7. Test the sound
Select AUX Audio in iDrive and connect a 3.5 mm audio source. Play music at a moderate volume and check that sound comes through the factory speakers.
Installing an Android screen
Activate the factory AUX menu before installing the Android display. If the display is already fitted, remove the Android screen and its wiring harness, restore the original setup, activate AUX, and then reinstall the screen.

If AUX still does not appear
- Confirm that the car has the CCC system and that the activator is the correct version.
